brouhaha sabrina: handwritten katee: kimmosy: richa_sharam: The ...

This is a separation of church and state blog with an atheist slant and pro-religious education stance.? I like critical thinking, logic (hence the name), and not letting people get away with either stupid ideas or ideas that get played out in public but only serve the people making them.? With the presidential election just a day a away, I am (like everyone else) looking forward to not being so inundated with all things politics.? I will continue to post about politics and religion, but barring from something really weird going down with the election, I will be more than happy to take a break from adding fuel to the big fire of this presidential election.

But it?s not over yet.? With the exception of one or two posts I have cooking, I am preparing myself to mostly be posting about this election for the next 24-48 hours.? My friends and I are making Obama t-shirts tonight (I will post a picture of mine later), I?m reading the news regularly and anything that grabs my eye I will probably post about (like last night), and whatever the results are I?m sure I?ll have an opinionated post about.? This post however is more of a last attempt to not have any readers I have to vote for Romney.? I?ve had several posts on why he shouldn?t be president where I?ve referenced other news sites saying the same thing.? This one is pure opinion.

A good friend of mine?has now resorted to?taking votes away from Romney as opposed to getting people to vote Obama.? It stemmed from a somewhat humorous story involving a family member sending a mass email out about his mathematical based prediction (guess) on how Romney will win by a landslide.? Instead of criticizing the math or once again pleading to his family to not vote Romney (as my friend is gay and doesn?t want his family supporting a possible president who doesn?t support him), my friend merely corrected his family member on the name he used for the projected new president (Mitchell Romney) by saying, ?Mitt is not short for Mitchell.?? This spared a humorous conversation about how we should all convince?all Romney supporters?to ONLY vote for Romney by his ?full name?, so if you don?t see ?Mitchell Romney? be sure to ignore any other Romneys on the ballot and write in ?Mitchell Romney?.?

?Mitchell Romney? aside, I have jumped on my friends band wagon and am pleading with you to vote for preferably Obama, but anyone but Romney.? It doesn?t matter that he?s still probably more middle of the road than he?s campaigned.? It doesn?t matter if you don?t like the way the economy has gone the past 4 years (hello!? Republicans cocked blocked Obama several times from solutions AND Colin Powell has said that neither party superhero Reagan or Clinton could have fixed the debt better than Obama has).? What matters is that we don?t go backwards.? Do you love a woman?? Don?t vote against her.? Do you respect man or woman who happens to be homosexual?? Do not vote against them.? Do you enjoy religious freedoms (both the right to practice freely or to not practice at all)?? Do not vote against them.? Do you think Mormonism borders on being a cult?? Do not vote for a Mormon.? Do you know anyone living in poverty or the?ever?decreasing middle class?? Do not vote Republican (they save people in higher tax brackets and convince people in lower tax brackets to vote for them based on religious faith.? That is a fact).? I?m not convinced Romney would be able to overturn Roe v Wade, Obamacare (ummm, he had Obamacare in Massachusetts), or stop individual states from legally acknowledging?gay?marriages in the?next 4 years as the presidency is not a dictatorship.???However,?a vote for Romney is a vote for not caring if we move forward as a country.? Most other developed countries in the world does not have religious superstitions cater to their government, have more progressive social norms, and universal health care.? America is embarrassingly left behind.? In fact, the rest of the world would overwhelmingly vote for Obama if included in the election and everyday a new poll shows that.? This leads to me a somewhat obvious plea?for not being an ugly American for other countries to continue to mock.

I?m all about voting for things other than social norms as they sometimes can be more smoke in mirrors and can detract from other serious issues in politics.? But with this election allegedly being as close as it seems and so many people?s rights riding on it-symbolic or actual-it is incredibly important to not vote for anyone who would hold us back.? Do no betray anyone you care about by voting for a man who will take away their rights, happiness, and safety (yes safety, as the more gay people are not considered equals the more hate crimes towards them will be tolerated, as well as if abortion was made illegal women would still get them but through unsafe means).? If you?re religious, do as JESUS would do and not what your church may say and help the poor, the sick, and the ones not as accepted by society.? Obama at least seems to take every one?s plights into consideration; Romney does not.?

This is too close for comfort so I must beg of people to not vote for Romney.? Maybe the next election I won?t be begging for you to cock block the guy I?m not voting for from winning.? I don?t know what the landscape will be in four years.? If you agree with any of this, share it on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, wherever in hopes of persuading the undecided.? At this point if you don?t like Obama, fine.? Don?t vote for him.? But?please vote?for any of the other 3rd parties, including the one Roseanne Barr is on (seriously?).? Let?s continue to move forward and not go back to a more articulate version of George W.? So if you haven?t already done early voting, please vote for anyone but Romney?or write in ?Mitchell Romney?.?

Please and thanks.?

Qatargas: JBOG Project Achieves 10 Million Man-Hours Without LTI

The Qatargas Jetty Boil-off Gas Recovery (JBOG) Project recently achieved a major safety milestone, completing ten million man-hours without any lost time injury.

Nearly 3000 people from around the world are working on this crucial project, which aims to recover gas currently being flared during Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) ship loading at the Port of Ras Laffan.

Commenting on this milestone, Sheikh Khalid Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Qatargas Chief Executive Officer said: ?Safety is a core value in Qatargas and an integral part of our culture at every level. I would like to commend all those who were involved in this achievement, which is a true testament to the commitment and dedication of the project team and the contractors to embrace the strong safety culture spread across our organisation. Our aim is to ensure that everyone goes home safely, every day. We will continue our focus on safety and ensure that all our operations and projects are executed to the highest safety standards.?

Sheikh Khalid Bin Abdulla Al-Thani, Qatargas Chief Operating Officer, Engineering & Ventures, said: ?Ten million man-hours without LTI is a remarkable milestone for the JBOG project, reflecting our commitment to ensuring that the safety of our people remains our highest priority. Our Incident and Injury Free (IIF) programme which has improved the safety behaviour of everybody on the Project has been a major contributing factor towards this achievement. The JBOG Project has created a culture in which safety is a core value, shared by us and all our contractors. Congratulations to the project team on this outstanding achievement.?

Bashir Mirza, JBOG Project Manager, added: ?I am very proud of the Qatargas JBOG Project Management Team and all our contractors for keeping around 3000 workers safe from serious injury while clocking ten million man-hours on this project. This accomplishment is all the more satisfying because it spans nearly three years. Our teams are continuing to build a strong safety and Incident and Injury Free culture within the JBOG Project which makes people look after each other to ensure that Everybody Goes Home Safely, day in and day out.?

Construction activities on the JBOG Project started in 2010. The project, which is part of the Common Facilities Projects at Ras Laffan Industrial City in the north of Qatar, will enable boiled-off gas to be collected from LNG ships and compressed at a central facility. The compressed gas will then be sent to the LNG producers to be consumed as fuel or converted back into LNG.

When fully operational, the JBOG project will recover the equivalent of some 0.6 million tonnes per year of LNG, which is sufficient natural gas to power more than 300,000 homes.

Use These Tactics To Get Out Of Your Financial Hole - Personal Loans

Household financial issues can be a real source of stress for many people. It seems that some people have a knack for keeping their?s in order, while others tend to struggle. Despite the fact that some of us have an easier time or more financial means than others, we can all get them in order, if we have the knowledge to do so. This article will provide you advice and tips to get you started on a path of sound money management.

A good grocery store sale isn?t so good if you end up wasting the items you bought. Buying large sizes, or in quantity or bulk, can be a good deal, but not if the item will go bad before you can use it. Be realistic, so you can enjoy a good bargain when you find one.

By having a savings account that you deposit into regularly, you will be building financial stability. With a savings account, you can avoid needing a loan when finances are diminished or if something unexpected occurs. Even if it?s impossible to make a significant contribution each time, save as much as you can because every little bit helps.

Use multiple accounts to keep to your budget. You can use one account for fixed expenses and the other for those expenses that are variable. This is a good way to keep track of money, where it is going, and if you will have enough for expenses.

Make concrete financial plans to ensure your personal finances are managed effectively. Having a solid plan can be motivating, as it provides you with a purpose to work hard to prevent overspending.

Writing down a budget is vital to managing your personal finances. The first of each month, compose a list which describes every expense. Make sure to include living expense, such as phones, food, heat, cars and rent. Be sure to include all expenditures that you think you will make. Add up your anticipated monthly expenses, and make sure you don?t spend more than what you have left after paying them.

Consider choosing a credit card with a rewards program. You are in a great position to apply for one if you routinely pay off your monthly balances. Reward cards provide you with cash back, airline miles, and other little perks on your everyday purchases. Figure out which rewards appeal to you the most, and compare the different offers.

If you need to make minor purchases, be sure to have a debit card or $10 in cash with you. You might not be able to use your credit card unless your purchase meets their required minimum.

You need to devise a secure method to dispose of your old financial documents. It is a good idea to invest in a shredder for this purpose. You could risk fraud and identity theft if you don?t properly dispose of old files you no longer need. You need to thoroughly protect yourself to prevent this from occurring.

Always stay in control of your finances, no matter what happens. Divide this task into smaller things, such as saving a few dollars a day. Keeping your finances in order will be much easier by following the advice offered here.

How to Improve Your Autoresponders | Simplicity Marketing, Inc.

While many companies invest a lot of their marketing resources in social media, there?s still a lot to be gained from email marketing. Unfortunately, there?s a tendency to set up an autoresponder and forget about it. However, small tweaks can dramatically improve your autoresponders performance. Take a look at the following tips and ideas. Embrace the ones that make sense for you and watch your email marketing investment increase.

#1 Personalize It

Instead of starting your message with ?Dear Friend,? ?Dear Reader? or no salutation at all, try addressing each subscriber by name. Most email marketing systems provide a personalization feature. Which means your message can start with ?Dear Jane,? ?Good news, Joe,? or any other salutation that makes sense for your message.

#2 Include a Call to Action

Don?t neglect this unique opportunity to connect with your reader and further your relationship. Ask them to visit your blog, to download an information product, to like you on Facebook or to buy a product or service. Tell them what to do next.

#3 KISS

Keep each autoresponder message simple and to the point. That doesn?t mean it has to be short. Each message should be as long as it needs to be to convey the information. However, it should be highly focused on a single topic.

#4 Benefit, Benefit, Benefit

When you?re planning and creating your autoresponder messages ask yourself this question, ?What?s in it for my reader?? What benefit are you offering? What value are you providing? If you can?t answer the question, scrap that message and start over.

#5 Link Messages

Consider linking your messages into an autoresponder series or course. Each message can build on the last one. This helps create a relationship with your reader. They?ll learn to trust you and value your information. It?s much easier to market to someone who considers you a trustworthy and credible resource.

#6 Make It Easy to Read

Large blocks of text are difficult to read. Online, if your prospect cannot quickly scan your message and decide if it?s worth their time they?ll skip it. Subheadings, numbers, bullets and other simple formatting can help add readability to your messages.

#7 Tell, Share, and Wrap

Start each message by introducing your topic and telling your reader what you?re going to share with them. Share your information and then wrap it up by giving a quick summary. This three-part structure will help make sure each and every email message is communicated clearly.

Finally, it?s important to know that your email marketing efforts and your social media efforts can work together. Inspire people to follow you and subscribe to your email newsletter by sharing tidbits of information with them on social sites. Invite email subscribers to connect with you on social media. Integrate your efforts for more results.

Marco Rubio?s favorite rap songs are surprisingly hardcore

Robert Lieberman, the maker of the critically acclaimed documentary, They Call It Myanmar ? Lifting the Curtain, tells a story that exposes some of the cynical reality behind President Obama?s historic visit to politically imprisoned Myanmar today. Shortly after Aung San Suu Kyi, the Nobel Prize-winning democracy activist, was released from two decades of house arrest in November of 2010, Lieberman was invited to show his film at a Yangon festival that Suu Kyi was organizing called ?The Art of Freedom.? Thoughtfully, he informed the U.S. Embassy of his plans. Their reaction? Near-panic.

Rockets fly over Israel and Gaza amid talk of truce - World News

A three-story building in Gaza was flattened by an overnight Israeli airstrike that was targeted at a Hamas militant. NBC's Richard Engel reports.

By NBC News staff and wire reports

Updated at 8:43 p.m. ET: As Israel entered its fifth day of airstrikes on Gaza, a missile targeted at a top militant flattened a three-story building, killing 10 members of a family.

The attack, which came as Middle East leaders attempted to negotiate a ceasefire, triggered fear that Israel could launch a ground offensive and lead to war.

Twelve people died in the overnight attack, including four children and four women. At least 75 Palestinians have died so far in this nearly week-long conflict. More than 600 have been injured.

In Israel, where half the country is now within reach of rockets, three people have been killed. Dozens have been injured.

More than a hundred rocket attacks were launched from Gaza, triggering more panic and fear in Israel's commercial capital where sirens were last heard during the Gulf War. NBC's Martin Fletcher reports.

In Tel-Aviv, the country?s commercial capital, sirens sounded for the first time since the Gulf War. Targeted attacks Sunday on the trendy city were shot down, the Christian Science Monitor reported.

Meanwhile, President Barack Obama said?he fully supported Israel's right to defend itself and called for an end to the firing of missiles into Israel by militants inside Gaza in order for a peace process to go ahead.

"If this can be accomplished without?a ramping up of military activity in Gaza, that is preferable," Obama said during a visit to Myanmar. "That's not just preferable for the people of Gaza, it's also preferable for Israelis because if Israeli troops are in Gaza they're much more at risk of incurring fatalities or being wounded."

The conflict between the two sides ratcheted up after Israel launched an air strike Wednesday that killed Ahmed al-Jabari, Hamas?s top military leader. Hamas, deemed a terrorist organization by the U.S. and Israel, won parliament seats in Gaza in 2006 and took control of the area in 2007.

Israel's declared goal is to deplete Gaza arsenals and press Hamas into stopping cross-border rocket fire that has plagued Israeli border towns for years.

After Jabari was killed, the Israel Defense Forces posted a video of the airstrike on YouTube. Then they tweeted: ?We recommend that no Hamas operatives, whether low level or senior leaders, show their faces above ground in the days ahead.?

In Cairo, Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi worked behind the scenes to broker a truce. He said "there are some indications that there is a possibility of a ceasefire soon, but we do not yet have firm guarantees.''

Egypt has mediated previous ceasefire deals between Israel and Hamas, the latest of which?unraveled?with recent violence.

In Jerusalem, an Israeli official declined to comment on the negotiations. Military commanders said Israel was prepared to fight on to achieve a goal of halting rocket fire from Gaza, which has plagued Israeli towns since late 2000, when failed peace talks led to the outbreak of a Palestinian uprising.

Diplomats at the United Nations said Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is expected to visit Israel and Egypt in the coming week to push for an end to the fighting.

The conflict speaks to a much broader question of whether Israel should cede land so that Palestine may become a state. The U.N., European Union and Russia agree there should be separate states, with Gaza being included in the Palestinian state.

In May 2011, President Barack Obama also agreed: ?We believe the borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states.?

That would leave Israel with just nine miles at its narrowest, however, which its leaders say would be difficult to protect.

Ground offensive
Israel was prepared to substantially broaden its operation in the Gaza strip, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday as military planes continued to bomb targets in Gaza City.

"The Israel Defense Forces have attacked more than 1,000 terror targets in the Gaza Strip," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at a cabinet meeting. "We are exacting a heavy price from Hamas and the terrorist organizations and the Israel Defense Forces are prepared for a significant expansion of the operation."?

He gave no specifics and made no mention of the possibility of a ground offensive.?

But Israeli cabinet ministers decided on Friday to more than double the current reserve troop quota set for the Gaza offensive to 75,000 and around 16,000 reservists have already been called up.

Asked by reporters whether a ground operation was possible, Maj.-Gen. Tal Russo, commander of the Israeli forces on the Gaza frontier, said: "Definitely.''

?We have a plan. ... It will take time. We need to have patience. It won't be a day or two,'' he added.

A possible move into the densely populated Gaza Strip and the risk of major casualties it brings would be a significant gamble for Netanyahu, favored to win a January election.

The last Gaza war, a three-week Israeli blitz and invasion over the New Year of 2008-09, killed 1,400 Palestinians, mostly civilians. Thirteen Israelis died in the conflict.

'Huge bang'
At least two rockets fired from Gaza toward Tel Aviv, Israel's?commercial?capital, were shot down Sunday by Israel's Iron Dome air shield, witnesses and officials said.

NBC's Paul Goldman saw at least one missile being intercepted by Israel's anti-rocket defense system over the center of the city.

"I was taking cover and heard a huge bang," Goldman said. "(I) looked up and saw the explosion in the air above me. I could smell the fire."

Israel's strikes were causing widespread damage, Mohyeldin reported from Gaza.?"These strikes are portrayed as precision strikes, but they are anything but that given how densely populated the area is," he said.?

Reuters and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
