Texas senior defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat has been named the the 2013 Walter Camp Player of the Year watch list, according to the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Despite being sidelined for the final seven games of 2012 with a right pectoral injury, the 6?5?, 245-pound defensive end managed to finish second on team in tackles for loss and sacks. Jeffcoat had 71 tackles, 21 for a loss and eight sacks as a sophomore in 2011.

Before this latest honor, Jeffcoat had been named to 2013 watch lists for the Bednarik Award, Nagurski Trophy, Lott Trophy, Lombardi Award and CFPA Defensive Awards. Jeffcoat is expected to be the senior leader on the Longhorns defensive line, helping to fill the void of Alex Okafor.

Jeffcoat is one of 50 players to be named as a potential winner for the fourth-oldest individual college football award. The list will be narrowed to 10 semifinalists in November and the winner will be announced on Thursday, December 12.
