Brad Pitt is many things: an actor, a humanitarian, a father and a soon-to-be husband (again). But for the Killing Them Softly star, the role of dad might just be the most important.
Pitt -- who has six kids with fiancee Angelina Jolie -- admits in the new issue of People that fatherhood makes him a better man. "Absolutely," he says when asked, adding that being a dad "takes you right off yourself."
His children were the initial reason that he agreed to get married to Jolie. However, the 48-year-old has admitted that he and Jolie have realized that marriage means a lot to them, as well. The Pitt-Jolie family hasn't yet announced a wedding date, but he says they plan to "keep it simple" and invite "just family."
"It's been a family type of year, a down-home type of year," Pitt says. "Mama's [Jolie] worked more. And quite frankly I've really enjoyed it."
Pitt is only a little over a year away from turning 50, and he admits that it's something that he's thinking about. Though he's as successful as ever, Pitt says he's going to start treasuring each moment he has now that he's getting older.
"This is what I think about: 'Okay, you're way over the mid-point [of your life]. You don't know how much time you have left,' " he says. "I want to enjoy this year more than ever."
