The Department of Music in the School of the Arts invites applications for a full-time/term-tenure track position in Music.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Instrumental studio teaching and other departmental areas dependent upon candidate's qualifications and departmental needs, which may include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in conducting and/or music education. Additional opportunities may exist in the areas of ensemble conducting and coaching.
QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate or ABD required. Public school teaching experience preferred. Demonstrated excellence and expertise in an area of instrumental performance.
THE COLLEGE: Messiah College is a Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences and has a student body of over 2,800 undergraduate students including over 7 ? percent of under-represented and 3.34% international students from 34 countries and over 170 graduate students including over 4 ? % of students from under-represented populations.

THE DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC is home to 120 undergraduate music majors pursuing a variety of degrees including the Bachelor of Science in Music Education, Bachelor of Music in Performance, Bachelor of Arts in Music, Composition, Commercial Music, or Christian Music Studies, Music Business and Music Theatre. In addition, 60 students are enrolled pursuing the Masters of Music in Conducting. In January 2013, the Department of Music will move into the Calvin and Janet High Center for Worship and the Arts, a $31 million facility with a 1,000 seat concert hall, 140 seat recital hall, teaching studios, labs, recording studio, classrooms and more. The Messiah College Department of Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
STARTING DATE: Fall 2013
COMPENSATION: Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience
